20 Years of Care: Meet Angelica

As we celebrate FlexCare’s 20th anniversary, we’re sharing the stories of the clinicians who have been part of our journey. Meet Angelica, whose travel career began in early 2021 and has brought her meaningful connections, memorable assignments, and a lasting relationship with her recruiter, Lauren. 

Taking the First Step 

Angelica began traveling during a difficult chapter of the COVID pandemic. After seeing people she knew become seriously ill, she felt ready for a change of surroundings and an opportunity to help others. 

“I also wanted to help others and see different places,” she shares. 

Starting a travel career came with uncertainty. Angelica didn’t know where to begin, but she started exploring agencies and considering what she wanted from the experience. 

Finding FlexCare 

As Angelica compared companies, FlexCare stood out for an approach that felt clear and trustworthy. 

“I looked at several different companies, but FlexCare stood out because it just seemed like it was the most straightforward and honest.” 

That first impression helped her take the next step into an unfamiliar career path—and introduced her to the recruiter who would become an important part of her journey. 

Finding Family Along the Way 

Angelica remembers feeling scared when she first started traveling. By her third assignment, in Fargo, North Dakota, she found a team that helped her feel at home. 

“From the first day of being there, they made me feel like family. It was such a great experience.” 

Several years later, she experienced that same sense of belonging in Rapid City, South Dakota. Both destinations remain especially meaningful to her, and she would gladly return to either one. 

For Angelica, the people she met made those assignments memorable long after they ended. 

A Connection That Goes Beyond Assignments 

From the beginning, Lauren has been a steady source of support. Although she and Angelica have never met in person, their relationship has grown through years of conversations, assignments, and life changes. 

Lauren was there when Angelica’s mother passed away, and again three years later when her father passed away. Along the way, Angelica has also shared in Lauren’s milestones, including getting married and welcoming a baby. 

“I feel like we have such a good connection,” Angelica says. “She is always calling and texting just to see how things are going.” 

Whether Angelica has a question or needs support, she knows she can reach out to Lauren. 

Why She Stays 

When asked what keeps her with FlexCare, Angelica’s answer is simple: Lauren. 

“She is the main reason I stay with FlexCare.” 

Having one person to turn to for her needs is another part of the experience Angelica values. That familiarity means she has someone who knows her story and has been there throughout her travel career. 

Sharing Her Experience With Others 

Angelica’s confidence in Lauren has also made her comfortable recommending FlexCare to others. 

“I have sent several referrals to Lauren because I know she will take good care of them.” 

When someone asks about the company she travels with, Angelica shares her experience—from finding welcoming teams in new places to having a recruiter she can count on.
