As of January 1, 2023, Ohio will officially join the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). This means that Ohio residents can apply for a multistate license, and nurses nationwide who hold a multistate license will be able to practice in Ohio.
The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) was first signed into law in 2000 and allow nurses who hold a specific multistate license to practice in any NLC state. Only nurses who declare a compact state as their primary state of residence may be eligible for a multistate license.
